Alice-Gervais was born in Miami, and raised in Fla., NYC, and WV. After finishing high school in Clarksburg, she attended oil pastel classes by WV Artist Beth Crowder, then went on to attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1983 and transferred to the Art Institute of Ft Lauderdale in 1985. Due to family obligations, she moved to St. Petersburg and attended Pinellas County Community College studying commercial and fine art. While in Florida, she began working as a grade school Art Teacher in St. Petersburg, then on to a private grade school in Ashville, NC.  Once back in West Virginia she attended master oil painting classes at Glenville State College and held a two-man show at the Clarksburg Library.

Alice-Gervais has worked as an artist and teacher for over 35 years, and has worked as a freelance sign painter, logo designer, and brochure artist. Many of her independent pieces are in private collections and have been published in magazines such as the Galactic Crossroads  and Easy  Riders.

Alice-Gervais illustrated “The Pioneer Index of Randolph County” with 24 pen and Ink drawings of places of interest in the Randolph County area. In 1996, she won best of show in the Clarksburg’s WV Days at which time she began working for ArtsBank in Randolph Co., bringing art instruction to local grade schools. During this time Alice was an apprentice to Eadhmonn IU Cuinn. world famous Celtic stone carver.

Throughout her career, she has consistently worked as a commission artist and giving private instruction in Pen and Ink, Paper Mache, and acrylic painting. Recently, she did a mural for the Beverly Heritage Center cave exhibit and is currently exploring photography, with a piece published in WV’s Art Works.

Alice is a member of Artists at Work located in Elkins, WV, and has been working on commissions, private works, and logos for musicians while teaching acrylic classes, along with paint and sip classes in Tucker, Randolph, and Lewis counties.
